The seafood products we assess
For us, seafood includes all aquatic ‘blue’ foods that are caught or farmed in marine and freshwater ecosystems. Our assessment focus is on small-scale fisheries and farming operations, which are important parts of coastal communities and add significantly to tourism, social cohesion and identity.
Our assessment criteria
Our assessment process is underpinned by the Sustainable Australian Seafood Assessment Criteria. We use them to assess whether seafood products are produced in an ecologically sustainable manner.
